install

pkg_add gnome gnome-extras

disable display manger

rcctl disable xenodm

enable gdm

rcctl enable multicast messagebus avahi_daemon gdm

I tried the above commands you show, but when I try to login it will not let me login. Soon as I type the first letter of my password the login window fades away.

  Did you use OpenBSD 6.1 or a later Version?
  Back than with 6.1 it worked for me.
